Do you ever get the feeling everyone and everthng closes in on you at the same time? Well, I've had a pretty insane week and thank goodness the next five days are public holidays.
Last night, I attended my first excursion in probably over 15 years. The Prof. invited me to the High Court in Hong Kong where she was taking her media law students for an outing. For two hours we were sitting in Court no. 22 after hours listening to Hartmann J talk about the rule of law, separation of powers and entertaining anecdotal stories of his experiences in the Court of Appeal. He made it sound like it was such a great profession to be a part of and I almost believed him.
So anyway, today I get everything lumped on me at the last minute. The director of the JSMC decided she wanted to have a status report about everything to look over during the holidays despite having been provided with everything over the last two months. Of course the Prof. takes flight to go on holidays today and then it's like erm... w-ko can you take care of this and this and that within the space of half a day.
I will stop venting now because I should relax and it's all done.

yes i know that feeling....you must be a phlegmatic (you know, the 4 temperaments by tim lahaye) cos i would have just freaked and blanked out, but you managed to blog so that's a good sign.
i would totally look at it in a positive light - i think your superiors think highly of you and that you're up to speed with the job, that's y they're entrusting you with all these responsibilities.
anyway, it's 'disgusting' how many holidays people enjoy in hong kong and china! talk about injustice of life! have fun!

Well, I've just spent the last three hours (on my public holiday) replying to emails and both the Prof and Director were online at the same time. They can't accuse me of not putting in the effort and I will have you know, I have yet to be paid for my last two months of work because of some logistical glitch! I mean, what kind of a reasonable person does that? The Prof was asking me why I was up and ordered me to go to bed!
As for them checking my blog, I have nothing to lose. I'm on a contract. They have more to lose if I leave.
SL: I thought Singapore was multi-cultural celebrating all that religious diversity has to offer? One would have though that you lot would have a similar amount of holidays? Yes?
SL: By the way, I would like nothing from Singapore but I would like you to spend some quality time with your beloved!
im afraid not....in order to be impartial to the respective races while respecting each different religion, the government only allows 10 public holidays per year.
i realised it was a silly question to ask whether you needed anything from sg. i somehow forget that you don't live in oz and that your sister-in-law is a singaporean, so you can have anything you want from here. silly me....
btw, 'my beloved' is allergic to me. he's got a running nose and can't stop sneezing since he has arrived here.
Oh no! Poor 133. It happens to me in the reverse. When I first arrive back in Australia after living in Japan/Hong Kong my nose drips like a running tap! It's very strange and takes me weeks to settle. Do they sell Telfast over there?
