Floods

Yesterday I carried an umbrella and today I carried an umbrella. So yes, there must have been some serious rain if I had to resort to an unbrella. All I can say is that I'm glad I don't live at the bottom of any hills. I've never seen so much rain and water in my life even when there has been a typhoon. I was on my way to work and was stuck on the mini bus because of traffic congestion and flooded roads. My boss called me and told me to turn back because the Wan Chai MTR was flooded and Hennessy Rd was knee-deep in water. All classes suspended today. So much for my last Saturday of teaching.

The pictures below were taken in Tin Hau, just across the road from Victoria Park. Every time a vehicle drove past they created huge waves. It was like being at the beach with no sand.

I've been talking to strangers again on the MTR. This random woman asked me where I bought my raincoat because she liked it. I told her Mango but they don't sell them anymore. She told me she was from Taiwan and she recently moved to Hong Kong because her husband who is French moved here for work. So we chatted all the way to North Point (where she got off) and somewhere in between I gave her my business card and she gave me her contact details and asked me to keep in touch.

It's a raincoat. Very shiny but when you wear it, it's very hot. Not breathable. My sister-in-law bought the exact same raincoat and she is forbidden to wear it if it's raining and we are together.
I purposely wore shorts so I wouldn't get too soggy. Also, in 99% humidity it's hard to feel cold. I had to buy a pair of flip flops that same day because I was leaving puddles in the mall.

I call them pyramid parcels. I had two this evening.
