Curse of the Golden Flower

I think we were cursed because we watched it and there was definitely a lot of cursing after the viewing, particularly coming from my father who is the Chinese history guru. It was probably the worst movie Zhang Yimou has ever written and directed. How did he think he can top Hero? My father said only westerners would be fooled by the historical inaccuracies. The only plus for it was that it was visually beautiful to watch because of the set design and costumes. For the guys there's the added bonus of boobs action because the Tang Dynasty sense of dress was quite liberal. Think Versailles court dress with gold dragons on the dresses rather than frills. I wouldn't recommend it unless you got a couple of hours to kill and you were sipping chrysanthemum tea on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Oh andI hope your father is not a Chinese history nut!
