We were on our way to a Sri Lankan restaurant for lunch and I was quizing those in the car: What's the capital of Sri Lanka? Bro-By-Marriage called out Columbo. Okay then, what's the capital of the Solomon Islands?
Actually, I was really thinking more of Tonga (because I'd written to a friend in high school who was from Tonga left for Nuku'alofa for a brief stay). I didn't know what the capital of the Solomon Islands was off the top of my head. I did, however, remember the place being in the news about 18 months ago when there was a coup.

Throughout lunch the defragmenting of the brain was switched on for the capital of the Solomon Islands after about an hour and a half it came to me. Honiara. When I blurted it out there was objections amongst the ranks. BBM swore that it wasn't Honiara (because he had looked it up before and it didn't sound Japanese) and my sister was doubtful because she thought it was "Port" something or rather. I was willing to put a bet on the fact that I had the correct answer. The bet was on and it was going to be half a dozen donuts Los Simpson style (see blog from a few days ago).
As we were driving to the bookshop to determine the anewer the comments coming from the front seats- She's going to react like an Oscar contender loser. And when I said that I may have lost a brain cell thinking of it - the smug reply was: Gee, the other one is going to be lonely!
At the bookshop, an atlas was looked up and well, victory is oh so sweet! Literally. I even allowed "The LOSERS" to select their own donut of choice. I know! I'm the Warren Buffet of generosity when it comes to donuts inspite of all the insults.
Vincent - the last landscapes
After purchasing donuts we headed to the El Museo de arte Thyssen-Bornemisza to see the Van Gogh exhibition of his last landscapes of Auvers painted after he left the mental asylum at Saint Remy and a couple of months before he shot himself in the head. Madness and art really do go together. My favourite paintings from the exhibition:
