Postcard from Lamma - Bubbles

Due to the lack of blogging of late, I've decided to do a series of Postcards from Lamma. These postcards will of course be accompanied by photography. I will also try to refer to interesting tidbits of information about the places I will show you around the island.

Bubbles Laundry Co.

Bubbles Laundry Co. is a place I frequent at least once a week. This place is conveniently located right next to Pizza Milano (a postcard about this establishment will be written at a later date).
They open from 7.00am-9.30pm Monday to Friday, closing and hour earlier on Sat-Sun. Excellent laundry service is provided. For HK$22 you can have four and a half pounds your clothes laundered, folded and wrapped up in a neat package. When you open it, it feels like Christmas! Really it does.

The procedure is that your bring your laundry in a plastic bag (preferably in their plastic bag, with Bubbles written on it - free advertising). Then you place your laundry on the scales. The price is determined by how much your clothes way. You have the option of paying up front or when you pick up. When my friend Sachie came to visit, however, she said that she paid up front but they forgot to chop her receipt so she had to pay twice. I'm not sure who was in the right or wrong on this occassion but I wouldn't want to be blacklisted from Bubbles. The only other competitor is Brothers Laundry that is further down the road. I wouldn't trust a laundromat called Brothers.

Bubbles also doubles as the reception for Kathmandu Guesthouse. I have never seen people arrive or leave from the guesthouse but I'm sure the guests who stay there will always have clean sheets. Why it's called the Kathmandu Guesthouse given that it's almost 3000km away from the it's namesake remains a mystery. Lamma is at sea-level and does not snow. Perhaps the owner was once a Nepalese goat herder/sherpa?

Hey, quite entertaining...though you 'waffle' on. How about starting lammalife on lammaland aka the no. authority on living, visiting and eating on lamma island.
