Service

Why is it that housekeeping staff at hotels ask if you want your bed turned down? From what I know of this turning down business it is folding down the corner of you bedsheet or duvet. I think I can manage to do that on my own. I was offered this service and turned the housekeeping staff down and she gave me a couple of chocolates in reply. Hotels should instead, offer to tuck you in - a tucking in service. I mean, being away from home and all - you may feel a bit homesick. If I were to take it up another notch they should have a cart asking if guests want hot chocolate or warm milk.

I've decided to fill in the customer questionnaire at this particular hotel because I wanted to commend the restaurant staff who served me this evening. They are the nicest people I've come across and I'm a sucker for niceness. I arrived at the Chinese restaurant on my own and the maitre'd asked if I was alone. I replied yes. Oh! But it's difficult to eat Chinese food with only one person. I wanted Xiaolungbao. So she gave me a four seater table and suggested dishes suitable for the nigel and even recommend a starter that is supposedly good for women's health.

The waitress standing a few metres behind me must have been observing me whilst I waited for my food to arrive. I was reading the dessert menu and then the wine list and then I had nothing else to read. She sheepishly said, I'm not sure if you are interested and handed me a Shanghai Daily. Now that is quality service.

I'm going back to Hong Kong tomorrow. Hooray! I can only handle five days of business travel at any one time. I miss familiarity and talking to lawyers is very tiresome activity. Having said that, if I ever ventured back into the legal circus again I would like to be in Dispute Resolution. It's a very interesting area I never thought to look into.
