One-sided Argumentative Essays

Yesterday, I taught my first lesson in writing. I have had no training that I am aware of, which equips me to teach any form writing and yet I somehow managed to wing my way through an hour an a half and pull it off. How can this be? Is it because of years of writing assignments in English classes or is it having arguments with my mother, for instance, about why using tin foil will not give you cancer?

Introduction, Body, Conclusion.

I am such a fraud that I even had the audacity to set homework. The two Form 5 students looked at me in horror. Homework? Who gives out homework? Well, it had to be done. I swear I'm going to be sending these two off to Canadia and Australia at the end of the month to study and by God they will know how to write an argumentative essay with a structure. In our last lesson together, they will be balancing on their little lectern tables attach to their chairs and as I bid them farewell, they'll be saying, "Oh captain, my captain!"

Oh geez! Am I having delusions of grandeur again?

One of my students can't even read properly. I hope she learns to read before she leaves the country.

*deepest sigh*
