Interior decorating

Sorry folks. Been a bit busy lately.

So today one of the staff asked for opinions about the colour of the carpet, skirting and walls for the new school. It seems everyone has an opinion when it comes to interior decorating that you have to live with as long as you work in a particular place. Think of the scene from Lost in Translation when Bill Murray is asked to select new carpeting for his home. At the end of the day all the colours look the same. I couldn't tell the different between egg shell and beechwood.
My choices were N203 (bluish grey carpet), veneer for skirting and cheese for walls. Yep, there's an actually paint colour called cheese. Alright! So the cheese was predictable coming from me. But it was the best choice.

Another staff member wanted to go with beige brown carpet with dark brown skirting - apparently law firm colours. A student was asked about this colour scheme and he said absolutely not! "It'll make the place look a bit dirty and claustrophobic." An 11 year old girl student wanted purple. Another wanted dark blue.

I'm backed my choice of carpet with research-

Blue will help feverish conditions, it will help stop bleeding and it will help with nervous irritations. Researchers found that children tested higher on IQ tests in rooms with blue ceilings

Blue, if diluted to a lighter hue, can reduce stress and relieve tension. Is a colour of peace, tranquility and wisdom and can generate a sense of well-being. Blue gives the impression of space and coolness and represents serenity and loyalty.

After all the solicited and unsolicited feedback from all parties, the director of the school decided to go with my colour scheme. Peace, tranquility and wisdom. Yep, that's what we want our students to feel and it better stop the bleeding! Either that or he is trying to tell me I'm going to be spending a lot of time at work so I might as well enjoy my surroundings.
